WSEC has a number of partners without whom we would not be able to perform our vital function of providing environmental education to the community of Tshwane South.
Gauteng Department of Education (GDE). The GDE is our main partner and have been onboard since the early days of the MGC, they have provided the land for the Mandela Park Peace Garden and for the Walter Sisulu Environmental Centre. They also assist by supplying a Manager for the centre, cleaning and gardening staff and assisting with utilities such as water, electricity and telephone.
Jewish National Fund of South Africa (JNF). The JNF initiated the project, birthed the design, undertook the fundraising to build the project, developed the theme rooms and the educational content and sits on the governing body.
Rand Water. Rand Water has partnered us from the outset to fund the educational content, programs and equipment in the Rand Water Room. They also assist with new educational content development, staff training and regular quality controls and assessments.
Mothong African Heritage Trust (MAHT). We have partnered with MAHT to make the Magaliesberg Mountains, which border Mamelodi accessible for learners to educate on and promote conservation of the area. We developed educational resources to introduce school groups to the geology and ecology of the mountain.
Over the years WSEC has been blessed to have many funders who support development and ongoing operations. The current funding environment is challenging and we are on a drive to solicit long-term funders to sponsor various operational requirements.
